Act for Peace Schools Program

In the last decade, refugee and displacement numbers have accelerated into figures not previously seen in human history. We know it is one of the most significant issues facing our modern world, and since 2017, we have worked with Australian schools to develop the Act for Peace Schools Program to educate our youngest members of society about refugees and displacement issues.

We continue to be inspired by the change that occurs when youth are at the forefront of world issues. Through the Act for Peace Schools Program, we want to continue equipping young people with awareness, empathy, and the tools they need to make a difference so they can be a part of the next generation of changemakers and empowered global citizens who are the future architects of a more compassionate society.

“I want to spread education as far as possible and becoming a teacher will help me in doing this.”

Alina*, 9, lives in a rural village in Sindh province in southern Pakistan and enjoys attending the local government girls’ primary school and dreams of one day becoming a teacher. Her mother Salma did not have the opportunity to go to school but feels that education is very important in bringing up children. Act for Peace’s partner, Community World Service Asia, is working to address the gender gap in education and improving the quality of educational opportunities available for girls in rural areas of Pakistan. *Name changed for safety reasons
