Middle east Emergency Appeal
Help provide vital humanitarian emergency assistance for innocent people in the Middle East
Help provide vital humanitarian emergency assistance for innocent people in the Middle East
Please give urgently to help provide vital humanitarian emergency assistance for innocent people in the Middle East.
Act for Peace welcomes the news that Israel and Hamas have reached a ceasefire deal after 15 months of unbearable conflict in Gaza. We hope this will be a sustainable pathway to a durable, peaceful solution.
We call for unrestricted humanitarian access during this six-week ceasefire so civilians can access critical care including food and medical supplies.
We will continue to support our partner, the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), Department of Service to Palestinian Refugees (DSPR). The humanitarian needs are unimaginable, and DSPR continues to provide critical care in Gaza.
Outside of Gaza, conflicts across the Middle East have resulted in hundreds of thousands of people forced to flee their homes who are searching for a safe place to belong.
Families in Gaza have faced repeated waves of displacement, the ceasefire in Lebanon is tenuous as violations continue, and the future for millions of displaced Syrians remains uncertain.
We need to act now.
By giving to the appeal, you’re helping to equip local organisations in the Middle East to provide life-saving emergency assistance for people who have been forced to flee their homes such as food and health care.
Funds are deployed through the Act Alliance network of local organisations in region to provide emergency assistance.
What Our Team Say
“It’s really an unbearable situation people are going through. Our goal is to help reduce the pain of the people by offering whatever services we can, mainly medical services, psychosocial support and mental health services, as well as some cash, food distribution and hygiene kits,” says Department of Service to Palestinian Refugee’s (DSPR) Executive Director, Nader Abu Amsha.
“We have no choice. We should keep hope alive. Otherwise, we die,” says Nader.
“The time to act is now. We cannot stand by and watch while hundreds of thousands of people are displaced in Lebanon and almost two million remain displaced in Gaza. Families are without a home, without a safe place to belong and they desperately need medical assistance, food, and shelter. I implore Australians to act generously and provide life-saving support.” says Elijah Buol OAM, Act for Peace CEO.
“Our partners in the Middle East have shared the horrific atrocities which civilians and staff are facing on a daily basis,” says Act for Peace Head of Partnerships and Programs, Geoff Robinson.
“The emergency needs for healthcare, medicines and food are great, but every gift through the emergency appeal will go directly to local organisations working with the ACT Alliance to provide critical emergency support for those displaced by conflict.”
Act for peace today by giving to our Emergency Appeal to help local organisations in the Middle East to respond to this humanitarian crisis.
