International Day of Peace

Peace is something we build together.

International Day of Peace

Every person deserves to live with safety, dignity and a sense of belonging.

This International Day of Peace, you can stand alongside people and communities responding to displacement and working to build the conditions for peace with justice.

Your gift supports locally led work towards safety, dignity, belonging and lasting peace.

Peace is more than the absence of conflict.

For people to live in peace, they need safety and dignity, but also the opportunity to belong, have their voices heard and shape their own futures.

That’s why Act for Peace works alongside locally led partners and communities to respond when people are uprooted by conflict and disaster, while also addressing the conditions that contribute to displacement in the first place.

Your gift can help support this work, from responding with compassion and urgency when crisis strikes, to strengthening relationships and supporting locally led action that helps communities build a more peaceful future.

A long tradition of acting for peace

For more than 75 years, Australian churches and supporters have acted together through Act for Peace in solidarity with people affected by conflict and displacement.

It began in the aftermath of the Second World War, when Australian Christians came together to support refugees seeking safety and a place to belong.

Today, that calling continues.

Together, we can help build peace with justice, where everyone has a safe place to belong.

International Day of Peace resources for churches

Would you like to mark International Day of Peace with your church?

We’ve created worship and practical resources to help churches pray, reflect and explore what it means to practise peace together.
