Catastrophic flash floods and landslides have devastated communities in northern Nepal, destroying homes, roads, bridges and other vital infrastructure.
People have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods. Some communities remain cut off, and search and rescue operations are continuing.

What is happening in Nepal
On 26 August, catastrophic flash floods and landslides struck communities in northern Nepal along the Nepal-China border.
More than 1,200 people have died and more than 4,000 remain missing. Homes and critical infrastructure have been destroyed, while damaged roads are making some affected communities extremely difficult to reach.
Thousands of people need urgent humanitarian assistance, including safe water, food, shelter and healthcare.
Local communities are already responding
Through the ACT Alliance, Act for Peace is supporting DanChurchAid (DCA) and INF Nepal as part of the coordinated humanitarian response in Nepal.
DCA and INF Nepal are working to help communities meet urgent needs and begin the process of recovery. Their response includes safe water and sanitation, health services, emergency relief, cash assistance, protection and support to restore livelihoods and essential community infrastructure.
Both organisations have longstanding experience in Nepal, with relationships and local knowledge that will help ensure support responds to what affected communities need most.
