help create a future
filled with god's love

Your part of the Christmas Bowl and Act for Peace story can live on, long into the future.

As a Christian, Rev. Frank Byatt believed he had a responsibility to share his good fortune with our brothers and sisters in urgent need around the world. That’s why, on Christmas day in 1949, he put a Bowl of Remembrance on the dinner table and asked his family to place a generous gift in it to ‘share your good dinner with hungry children in other lands.’

Your Will is an opportunity to continue Frank’s important legacy long into the future; helping to create a world filled with God’s love.

“Leaving a gift just seemed like a natural extension of our faith – to go one step further.”
– Rev. Dr. Clive Ayre and Gail Ayre have supported the Christmas Bowl for over forty years.

The difference you can make

A gift in Will is much more than just a monetary gift.

Like Frank Byatt, you’ll be leaving a lasting legacy and a world filled with God’s love. We are honoured that you would consider us in this important decision.

By choosing to leave a gift in your Will, you’re enabling Act for Peace to work in partnership with communities around the world, to reduce displacement and help uprooted people find a safe place to belong.

“Supporting Act for Peace’s work had been a part of mum and dad’s life and they wanted to continue that sense of giving. It was a proud moment to acknowledge and share their spirit of generosity.”

Rev. Ken Devereux explains the meaning behing his parents’ decision to leave a gift in their Will to Act for Peace.

Your guide to leaving a gift to Act for Peace

It only takes a moment to make a lifetime of difference.

Whether you are writing a new Will or amending your existing Will, we suggest you consult with a solicitor to talk through the following options:

  • A residual gift: This gift is the remainder of your estate, after your loved ones have been provided for and your expenses have been deducted.
  • A percentage gift: This gift is expressed as a percentage of your residuary estate.
  • A specific gift: You can choose to leave a specified item, such as shares or property, or a fixed dollar amount.

Suggested wording for your Will:

Once you have decided what type of gift you would like to leave to the Christmas Bowl, your solicitor will help you make sure your wishes are carried out.

You can use the following wording to include Act for Peace in your Will:

‘I bequest [the whole/a percentage/residue/ fixed amount] of my estate to Act for Peace Ltd [or successor organisation] (ABN 86 619 970 188, registered address: L7, 379 Kent Street, Sydney) for the Christmas Bowl appeal for the purpose it shall determine. This bequest will be free of all duties. The receipt of this bequest by any authorised officer of Act for Peace Ltd shall form valid discharge to my executor.’

To ensure your gift reaches us, it is important to use our full legal name (Act for Peace Ltd) and registered Australian Business Number (ABN 86 619 970 188).

Aready have a Will?

You can add a codicil. If you’re happy with your current Will but would now like to leave a gift to the Christmas Bowl, you can ask your solicitor to add a codicil. It needs to be signed and witnessed in the same way as your Will.
